WHAT’S ON IN MORZINE-LES GETS THIS MARCH

Ahh… March. That perfect month of spring skiing. Is there anything better than the sun beaming down on your face while you’re gliding down the mountain, or simply enjoying a well deserved beer on the side of the piste? I think not. The only downside is that notoriously attractive goggle tan we all develop but grow to love… maybe.

We can already hear the sound of good music trickling around the mountains and the mid-season festivities bringing joy to all of the locals and holidaymakers here in the Portes du Soleil. If you’re visiting in March then you’re certainly in for a treat because there are lots of exciting events and activities in store for you! So without further ado, here they are …

Not to be missed

Whether you’re Irish or not, Saint Patrick’s day is always a great excuse to enjoy a Guinness or two (or three)! So get yourself down to Dixie’s Irish Bar to celebrate all things Irish! You never know, The Dixie Micks might even make a special appearance …

WHEN: Sunday 17th March

Rock around the Portes du Soleil ski area during this week-long event called ‘Rock The Pistes’, celebrating the best of international rock and pop music. There are 5 concerts on the piste from 13:30 each day, and 74 concerts in total spread across all resorts in both France and Switzerland. What’s even better is that you can attend these concerts with your normal lift pass and don’t need to pay another dime! Check out the website for all of the latest updates and new artists!

WHEN: 18th – 23rd March

What’s better than skiing OR a music festival? How about skiing AND a music festival all rolled into one?! Snowboxx returns to Avoriaz this March and we are counting down the days. Get yourself out here to witness legendary DJs and artists such as Rudimental, Craig David and Danny Howard at an impressive open-air arena on the slopes. There’ll also be plenty of fun-fuelled activities and epic après parties you’ll never forget, which make Snowboxx the best winter festival of all time! WHEN: 23rd – 30th March

 On The Mountain

If you can’t get enough of skiing in the Portes du Soleil then why not head along to the Pleney one Thursday evening for a spot of night skiing? The lower half of the Pleney is open to anyone from 18:30 to 20:30, accessed by La Crusaz chairlift. The great news is that if you already hold a valid ski pass then night skiing is included.

WHEN: Every Thursday evening from 18.30

Experience a different kind of ‘Ladies Night’ with this innovative and exciting all women ski race in Morzine. Designed to highlight women’s competitions, witness some of the best technical skiers as they ski head-to-head down a parallel slalom. Get up and close to the action with this magnificent event taking place in the centre of Morzine. Word on the street is that there will be FREE VIN CHAUD (if you know us, then you know how exciting that is)!  Don’t miss the after-party at the legendary Le Tremplin.

WHEN: Tuesday 5th March

Love mountain biking? Love the snow? Then the Razorsnowbike 2019, Châtel MTB competition is a truly unmissable event for you! There will be multiple mountain biking competitions taking place on the snowy mountains in Châtel, including a derby an eight-cross and a dual slalom. You can access the event by taking the Super Châtel Chair Lift. More info here. 

WHEN: Saturday 9th March 

Think you have the guts to take part in the grand Portes du Soleil Champions’ ski race 2019? We think you do too! This race is renowned for ending the season on a high as champion skiers ski alongside the public (including children)! After the race, there will be a prize-giving ceremony at the Tourism Office and the opportunity to receive autographs. Come along for an unforgettable day!

Music for the Soul

They say jazz music makes your food taste better… that’s probably not true but you should definitely get yourself down to Jazz Thursdays at Vina Annapurna in Les Gets anyway. Here you can appreciate a delicious dinner and live jazz with your partner, a group of friends or family.

Try something new

This month you can visit the snow-making factory in Morzine and learn how artificial snow is made by real professionals. The best part is, it’s absolutely free!

Ice Hockey
