What’s on in Morzine-Les Gets this January

January is the perfect month to find yourself in the French Alps, especially if you’re staying in a cosy chalet in the Portes du Soleil. For one, the scenery is simply stunning. If you haven’t experienced it already then you owe it to yourself to feel your heart skip a beat as you see the sun glimmering over the top of a snowy peak.

Apres ski

We all know a good old après at the Folie Douce or Happy Hours will never disappoint but get ready for après at Le Tremplin. The outdoor terrace of Le Tremplin is open from 4pm every day, so you can make the most of your stay in Morzine and enjoy après ski in a warm and welcoming setting. Every week, live bands and DJs will light up the scene at the foot of the slopes, for some unique moments spent with family or friends after a day’s skiing.

Get Involved

Fancy yourself as a musician or maybe a comedian?  Head over to Les Rhodos for open mic night. This event takes place from 5pm – 7pm and we know you’ll definitely be in for a good time. Open mic night is recurring weekly so if you miss it this Monday don’t worry, you can always go next week.

From 16.30 – 18.00 why not get involved with the PIED’ ATHLON taking place in the tourist office square. Available to all age 5 years and above this pedestrian race and game of agility can be played on your own or with family and friends!

Good music

What pairs better with good music than food and wine? Grab a table and enjoy the vocal talents of Tania Ivanov and friends at Vina Annapurna every Thursday throughout the winter. Jazz nights take place at restaurant Vina Annapurna in Les Gets with a wide variety of delicious food and wine. The perfect evening to enjoy as a couple, with family or friends!

On the ice

Get on down to the Skoda Arena ice rink at 20.45 for one of Morzine’s famous ice hockey matches. Tickets cost €9 per adult and €6 per child. Ask us to buy your tickets in advance if you’re staying in one of our chalets or apartments. Goooo Pingouins!

We all love the ice-hockey but have you ever actually been to an Ice skating show? At Patinoire Skoda Arena you can experience the region’s best skaters perform their free dance programme. Check out performance times at the tourist office.

WHEN: Saturday26th & Sunday 27th Jan

On the piste

Team Morzine Source Magazine x Morgan Jupe will be taking on the AJ Bell Alpine Challenge – a team event, challenging teams of 4 riders to clock up 150KM+ of GPS tracked skiing or boarding over 2 action packed days across the massive Portes du Soleil ski area, navigating to as many checkpoints as possible across each of the 15 ski resorts. It’s all about strategy, stamina, teamwork, good fun and of course supporting the inspiring work of snowsports youth charity Snow-Camp!

WHEN: Friday 25th & Saturday 26th Jan

Every Tuesday you can enjoy the torchlit decent and fireworks display in the centre of Morzine. In a classic ski resort display, admire the ESF ski instructors as they ski down the Pleney at night with flaming red torches. An amazing sight to behold and a wonderful evening activity for the whole family! There will be hot chocolate provided for the kids whilst adults can enjoy a cheeky glass of mulled wine.

Open the ski slopes with mountain rescue professionals! Registration for this fun activity is absolutely free at the tourist office. The meeting point is at 8am at the bottom of the Pleney and once the ski area is open you can enjoy breakfast in the team’s mountain chalet! Any volunteers?

WHEN: Every Wednesday

You’ve seen those insanely cool videos of floodlit skiing and always wanted to try it, right? Well, now you can make it a reality… Get yourself to the Pleney slope between 8pm and 10pm on a Thursday and don’t forget your ski pass!

Who doesn’t love huskies?

The Grande Odyssee 2019 husky race will take place from January 12th to 23rd. This year, it returns to Morzine for a stage of the race.

Europe’s largest husky dog race is an epic event that sets teams of dogs and mushers against each other as they attempt to cross fourteen resorts across the Savoie region including Samoens, Les Carroz, Flaine, Les Gets, Megeve, La Plagne, Val Cenis and Bonneval-sur-Arc.
